![]() And in Guild Wars 2 all players are naturally benefiting from working together, instead of high lvl players ruining the content for low lvl players. It has been suggested that this article be split into articles entitled Teleportation devices. Dailies, world bosses, collections, achievements, completion on alt characters and so on.Īnd in Guild Wars 2 you will be stronger than a lvl 10 but not completely overpowered. There are so much stuff leading you back. In Guild Wars 2 there are tons of reasons to go into every open world zone. ![]() In FFXIV you almost have zero reason to go to a low lvl area as a lvl 80, and you will be completely overleveled and ruin the fun of the content for other low lvl players. In FFXIV and other MMO's when a new xpac drops all previous content becomes almost irrelevant, that's not the case in GW2. These skills actually need to be leveled up by gaining xp points which can take time, so even if buy DLC now you still have no access to ALL the maps today. Not sure if the teleport-to-friend is still possible for free players, but even if you enter the DLC map you are still missing the skills like flying, jumping and mount preventing your exploration. PoF maps and HoT maps require you to buy expansions. Just want to point out, in case someone without previous GW2 experience reads this, free accounts only get access to the base game maps. Joker eredeti hozzászólása: the fact that all maps in the world are viable for lvl 80 characters There are some stuff that brings you back into the open world, but it's not a lot. With open world zones being more for just getting you through the story. And I was on the biggest EU server.įFXIV is more of a lobby/instanced game. Met maybe around 10 players while playing through the story. Last 2 times I played FFXIV a bit after each expansion launched, the open world (for endgame zones) were completely dead. You will always meet other people in the open world. Guild Wars 2 megaservers and the fact that all maps in the world are viable for lvl 80 characters are just pure brilliance when it comes to MMO design. Those games earn more money than GW2, but when we're talking about how alive the open world feels, OP is spot on. World of Warcraft had 12 million subscribers at its peak (probably around 3-5 million now), and is still much more popular than ffxivįFXIV is more popular than GW2, but both WoW and FFXIV feels much more dead than GW2. It's probably around 500k subsribers right now. I doubt they have more than 1 million active subscibers. I am fairly sure at some point GW claimed it had 2 million players (again, NOT subscribers), but it really is not clear how this number was calculated. FF14 has 20 million subscribers, even if GW2 had same amount of players, majority would be playing it for free. Tonypa eredeti hozzászólása:One is game with direct payment + monthly subscription. Just that based on these NCSoft financial reports GW2 has about same playerbase as Blade&Soul. Not to be confused with number of players, the amount you are "strongly suggested" to spend in each game could be different. From PC Online games GW is their 4th best after Lineage, Lineage 2 and Blade&Soul, before Aion. From NCSoft we do know that their 2 mobile games (Lineage for Mobile and Lineage 2 for Mobile) each has higher sales then whole PC games combined. The game will be shut down soon, of course, as it can not pay for the costs.Īs none of the companies publish their actual playerbase, we can only guess. In the end, even if the game has just 1000 players, but all of them play on same map same time you will have plenty of people around. Could be that average playerbase has outleveled certain maps, or these simply offer less drops or there is some large event happening elsewhere. In every MMORPG I have played there are certain time periods and/or maps that are usually abandoned, and then most players gather into few "best" maps in specific times. While in GW2 if the map is empty, it really is empty for everyone. Even if one server of FF14 feels empty, it still has 67 other servers. FF14 has 68 servers (32 in Japan, 24 in NA, 12 in EU). GW2 has 2 megaservers (one in NA, one in EU) where whole playerbase is combined into single map when needed. One is game with direct payment + monthly subscription.
